Local Fremont culture thrives.  Every year on the weekend before the Summer Solstice, Fremont hosts a summer fair.  The fair draws thousands of visitors, and on Saturday traffic is redirected for the Solstice Parade.  Throngs crowd the sidewalk as hundreds of naked bicyclists pedal down the street.  These bicyclists paint elaborate patterns over their bodies, an art form that perfectly encapsulates Fremont’s spirit.  Before the parade became an established tradition, the bicyclists used speed down the street to outrace the police who pursued them, but now the police have relaxed, allowing the naked bicyclists to roll down the street. ... (--MD)
